This is a blog post from resource and craft printables provider Mrs Mactivity. Mrs Mactivity will be facilitating a workshop at our upcoming Childcare Expo Coventry entitled – “Who Wants to Make a Unicorn?”

Father’s Day has crept upon us again this year! What with Mother’s Day, Easter, Royal Wedding and general plans for upcoming holidays, sometimes Father’s Day can be a little neglected. But there’s no reason to overlook it! There’s loads of way to show dad that he’s special and appreciated – and it doesn’t need to be your actual dad either. Plenty of grandads, uncles, brothers, cousins and step dads do a great job – so why not celebrate their part in your family life too? And if you’re short of ideas then you’re in luck – as we’ve got some fab Father’s Day craft and card ideas for you here today, that literally anyone can do.

  • Some dads love to read, and actual real books rather than electronic ones! Why not make dad a really cute bookmark, you can either print a coloured version or black and white and colour yourself! Download yours here, free for short time only (sign up required). All you need to do is print onto paper or card and cut – add a tassel for extra fun!

  • Let’s face it, most dads are usually pretty stressed, so how about a DIY Stress Ball from our friends at Red Ted Art? Use a funnel or bottle to add flour to a balloon – for full instructions follow the link.

  • Think Father’s Day, think Father’s Day Cards! And we’ve two ideas in one for you here. Not only do we have some FREE Father’s Day card templates here (sign up required), but we also have some Father’s Day Tie Weave Cards as well (Premium account required)! This is great for fine motor skills, but actually makes a really lovely keepsake too. Simply follow the instructions to make a weave tie, clip onto the card, write your message and you’re done! You can choose to print off our already coloured version, or colour in your own. Total crowd pleaser!

  • A lovely idea from Jenny at The Gingerbread House but published on Red Ted Art – make your own jam jar picture frames! Simply print and cut out a picture of your little one, or children in your setting, and set within a jam jar lid with some glue! DONE! And something dad can keep forever.

  • Rock decorating is HUGE right now! Red Ted Art have some cute ideas here for rock decorating using melted crayons, or just take your sharpies, draw something nice for dad, and you’re done! Then as part of your day, go out and hide them for other people to find. Useful AND beautiful.
